Scalable, Intelligent (AI) and efficient biodiversity monitoring platform

Preserving biodiversity is a huge challenge, while the available capacity of ecologists is limited. At Ecomoni we believe that technology is the key to bridging this gap.

We support organizations in setting up, organizing and scaling up technological solutions for ecological issues. Whether it's about preventing delays in construction and insulation projects, or building a robust biodiversity archive, we offer the knowledge and tools to work efficiently.

What we offer

In addition to the hardware solutions that we develop ourselves, we are also a system integrator and reseller of hardware from other parties. We support biodiversity monitoring by installing advanced technology in public spaces.

Ecomoni is your partner in selecting, integrating and deploying the right hardware for your needs.

The Nestmoni

Our in-house developed Nestbox monitor. We use the great tit as an ecologist's assistant. The great tit collects prey for its young. These prey animals are then counted and classified automatically. This provides a fingerprint, which is an indication of the biodiversity of the environment.

Audiomoth

Bioacoustic monitoring is increasingly being used in the detection and recognition of birds and bats. Based on the audio, recognition algorithms accurately measure which bird species are present. The NestMoni can also be equipped with such microphones for species recognition.

Bee Grateful

BeeGateFull monitors wild bee species in the area with specially developed hives. The collected data is brought together in an Impact Report, full of valuable insights. This is a visible and effective first step towards creating pollinator-friendly environments.

The Ecomoni Software Platform

In the future, thousands of smart sensors will contribute to monitoring biodiversity. Think of bat boxes integrated into facades, underwater cameras, birdhouse monitors and microphones for bird sounds. All these devices are connected and generate a lot of data. Our Ecomoni software offers seamless IoT integration and uses edge AI, both on its own and third-party hardware, to keep this challenge scalable and manageable.

Do you have a hardware solution? Do you want to focus on the hardware and use our platform to integrate into total solutions that we offer to customers?

Our hardware

The NestMoni is a versatile hardware platform designed for a variety of biodiversity monitoring applications by using the camera and any other easy-to-connect sensors.
The system has already been successfully used to observe nest boxes, but can also be used, for example, for prototypes to record small mammals, insect activity or bat sounds.

Do you have an innovative idea or a unique application in mind? We would love to think along with you! Our hardware platform offers space for experimentation and collaboration. Together, we'll discover what's possible!

Diopsis

A Dutch invention by Faunabit and has been used by various provinces and water councils in the Netherlands for 4 years. The Diopsis insect camera automatically counts and qualifies insects and provides a good indication of the biomass present at the location.

Our team

Our team consists of passionate people with a passion for nature and technology. Together, we are working on smart solutions that contribute to a better world. Meet the faces behind Ecomoni.

Simply placing a camera near a nest box provides a lot of unnecessary footage, of which only parts can be used. In addition, continuous recording also consumes an unnecessary amount of battery capacity. Gather exactly the information you're looking for with Ecomoni's intelligent birdhouse monitor.

Developments in an intelligent birdhouse monitor

  • 2 Nestmoni's are currently hanging in ARTIS
  • 25 Nestmoni's are currently hanging in Utrecht, Hengelo, the Veluwe and Peize.

This is our
vision for the future

  • Evolving classification algorithms to make it easier to collect more data
  • Adding sensors to extend research reach
  • Sound recordings for detecting different animal species in the vicinity of the nest box
